Can you believe it’s already April? I feel like I’ve been wishing time away this entire year waiting for this month. My mom was coming, it’s my birthday month, we’re going to Barcelona and Paris (again!)… But now that it’s finally here I can hardly believe it. How have we already been in Amsterdam 8 months? Corey started his last term of the year this week – that’s crazy talk! Time is just flying by at rapid speeds. We have so many exciting things planned both in the near and distant future that I find myself constantly wishing time away. I’m always ready for the next exciting thing to happen – the next trip, the next visitor, the next big life milestone. It can be hard to be present in this moment and appreciate the here and now. So I guess this is just a little reminder to myself to slow down and enjoy the ride. After all, today is our only guarantee. We might as well savor it!

Love this! I need a reminder from time to time as well. Enjoy this month! It's my birthday month, too - yay!!!!
ReplyDeleteTime flies when you're having fun :) Cheesy but true! So happy that you have so many fun things going on in your life to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteThat is a good quote to remember, it's hard to do when you're living the good life and traveling/visitors/etc!

Well said! I've been feeling the same way lately- just wishing for time to go faster because I'm looking forward to things but you are right- we are only promised today.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with this. It's hard not to look forward to trips or events that are coming up, but it's so important to savor the memories you're making in between :)
ReplyDeleteI struggle with this very same thing! It's so hard sometimes to just live where you are right now and be totally in it. I also find myself living for the weekends sometimes too. That means I'm wasting most of the week waiting for something else! Thanks for reminding me NOT to do this!
ReplyDeleteLove the quote! So true. Have fun in Barcelona & Paris!!!

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes, when I'm getting into bed for the night it feels like I just woke up. It really scares me.
ReplyDeleteI find that yoga helps a lot, honestly. Getting used to just lying there, listening to only my breath, kind of helps me take a second and really be present in the moment.
Great quote...this is something I need to practice!
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate to this. I have the next 2 years planned out in my head - i'm crazy! I need to be more in the moment, so thanks for sharing AND reminding :]
ReplyDeleteLovely reminder Liz. I suspect that like you, I'm a planner. So I certainly wish time away more than I should. Hope you're having a great time in Barca!
ReplyDelete"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" ~John Lennon It's so true! And such a good reminder to try to live in the present.
ReplyDeleteLove your photograph and that quote is oh so true! What cursive font is that if you don't mind me asking?
ReplyDeleteOh this is so what I needed! My husband and I are going on a 7 day cruise in December (we have been planning this since last summer) and I have been wishing the time away because I can't wait! I need to stop though because I have two sweet little boys that are growing up too fast and I need to enjoy them. The cruise will happen all in good time. :)

I really have to remember this as I am guilty of wishing away time far too often, instead of enjoying the current moment.
